Welcome to City College of San Francisco’s Art Department!
As artists and art historians, our mission is to promote creative and critical thought through a wide range of disciplines. Our art curriculum is offered to the community via online, hybrid and in-person art classes.
Courses support students whose art-making knowledge and skills range from beginning to proficient and
whose goals range from transfer to professional development.
Our students have the opportunity to:
- Engage in visual literacy that is based upon the understanding of historical and contemporary artistic cultures and trends
- Evaluate artwork using discipline-specific terminology and skills.
- Develop a series of projects that demonstrate critical analysis, creative thinking, technical skill in a variety of media, as well as the exploration of content and personal approach.
- Recognize opportunities of problem-solving in the processes of creation.
We look forward to working with you in reaching your artistic and educational goals and invite you to contact us with any questions about our courses and program.
