Federal CARES Act
City College of San Francisco has been certified by the Department of Education to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
Federal CARES Act emergency funding for students:
Section 18004(a)(1) of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides $7,009,874 million to the City College of San Francisco. The District used $3,504,719 of these funds to provide direct emergency cash grants to our students to assist with expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, healthcare, and childcare. Eligible students received a notification letter with detailed information on the amount awarded to them based on their units of enrollment.
The final quarterly posting is the final report that covers all remaining HEERF fund expenditures for Section 18004(a)(1) Student Portion funds.
Students eligibility requirements for the grant:
- Must be enrolled at least ½ time
- Must be eligible to receive Federal Financial Aid
- Must have a completed FAFSA and demonstrate an unmet need
- Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
HEERF II Funding
The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA Act) required student spending of 50% of an institution's allotment to go towards emergency financial aid grants to students. The institution was allocated $3,504,937 for the Student Portion of the funding. An additional estimated $4,150,120.00 of the Institutional Portion was allocated to the Student Portion to provide additional grants to our students.
As of March 1, 2021, the total amount of funds ÃÈ·µ¼º½ disbursed under the to help students cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operation was $3,572,868.49. A total of 4,254 students were awarded.

- Must have a completed FAFSA and demonstrate an unmet need
- Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
As of March 15, 2021, the total amount of funds ÃÈ·µ¼º½ disbursed under the to help students cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operation was $3,616,308.49. A total of 4,309 students were awarded.

The total amount of HEERF II funds awarded as of 10/7/21 was $7,415,507.49. A total of 11,765 students were awarded.
HEERF III Funding
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) required student spending of 50% of an institution's allotment to go towards emergency financial aid grants to students. The institution was allocated $14,492,000.00 for the Student Portion of the funding.
According to the U.S. Department of Education's (ED's) Final Rule, any individual who is or was enrolled at an eligible institution on or after March 13, 2020 is eligible for HEERF III student grants. In addition to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, refugees, asylum seekers, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, other DREAMers, and similar undocumented students are also eligible for HEERF III funding. ED's guidance also explicitly notes that international students can receive these funds, but that institutions still must ensure that they prioritize awarding of funds to students with exceptional need.
As of November 15, 2021, for the Fall 2021 semester the total amount of funds ÃÈ·µ¼º½ disbursed under the to help students cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operation was $8,070,000. A total of 30,301 students were awarded.
As of our quarterly reporting for January 7, 2022 a total of 16,888 students were awarded in the amount of $8,064,200.

As of June 1, 2022 for the Spring 2022 semester the total amount of funds ÃÈ·µ¼º½ disbursed under the to help students cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operation was $5,719,000. A total of 15,971 students were awarded.
HEERF Re-Disbursement
As of October 24, 2022, a total of $288,300 was disbursed to 231 undocumented or international students currently enrolled Fall 2022 who did not initially receive an award in Spring and/or Summer 2021.
As of June 27, 2023, a total of $71,134 was disbursed to 81 recipients enrolled in either the Spring 2023 or Summer 2023 terms. Students must submit an application outlining their emergency. Grant is limited and amounts requested subject to change at the school's discretion.
As of August 4, 2023 a total of 446 students was disbursed $362,442 enrolled in either the Spring 2023 or Summer 2023 terms. Students must submit an application outlining their emergency. Grant is limited and amounts requested subject to change at the school's discretion.
As of December 22, 2023 a total of $130,000 was disbursed to 260 recipients enrolled in fall 2023 term. Students must submit an application outlining their emergency. Students must also not be in default or overpayment. Grant is limited and amounts requested subject to change at the school's discretion.
