Apply to the Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) Program

The LVN Program is a full-time, three-semester, 18-month course of instruction which leads to a certificate in vocational nursing and 40.5 units college credit.

The program is accredited by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. Students who complete the program take a state examination for licensure in vocational nursing.

Admission Information

Program Orientation & Application

All applicants must complete an application to the Vocational Nursing Program. These applications will be provided at the orientation.

Orientations last approximately two (2) hours. Please arrive 10 minutes before the schedule in order to be seated. Due to limited space, we cannot allow visitors or children. No entry to the Auditorium after Orientation starts.

Admission Requirements

  1. Attend ONE mandatory program orientation
  2. An official U.S. accredited high school transcript showing completion of the 12th grade, G.E.D. or U.S. high school equivalent.
  3. Completion of English-1A and MATH-60 or higher and with “C” grade or higher in both.
  4. Have an overall GPA of 2.5 in Science and 2.0 in English-1A
  5. Complete the following prerequisites (or acceptable equivalents) within 5 years prior to enrollment with a “C” grade or higher in each class:
    • Anatomy & Physiology course 4-8 units (e.g. BIO-106, or both BIO-108 and BIO-112);
    • VOCN 51D Pharmacology
    • Nutrition (or BIO 134)
    • Child Growth and Development (or CDEV 53 or CDEV 67 or PSYC 21)
  6. 18 years of age or older

Acceptance

ACCEPTANCE into the program is through the lottery system. Please see the flyer for details. Please do not proceed with any Physical or Immunization paperwork until you have been accepted into the program and you have attended a New LVN Student Onboarding meeting.

Upon acceptance into the program:

  • If you're a new or Re-Admit ȷ Student, complete the College Admission Procedures.
  • A physical examination and proof of immunity for specified communicable diseases. See report (do not do this until instructed to do so by the Department Chairperson)
  • Current CPR card - Basic Life Support (BLS for Provider) for adult, children, infants.  (do not do this until instructed to do so by the Department Chairperson)
  • Uniform from designated vendor.   (do not do this until instructed to do so by the Department Chairperson)
  • Background check and drug testing.  (do not do this until instructed to do so by the Department Chairperson)

Costs are subject to change without prior notice.

  • $46 per semester unit for California resident
  • $234 per semester for nonresidents + $7 per unit for capital outlay fee + $46 per unit for enrollment fee
  • $20 for Student Health fee for ALL students; Summer Semester $16. (Mandatory)

*Addition costs (if applicable) for books, certification, equipment, materials and/or uniforms, etc.
