The Homeless At-Risk Transitional Students (HARTS) Program
The HARTS Program provides student support services to current credit ÃÈ·µ¼º½ students who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing housing insecurity.
Services the Program Offers
The HARTS program provides a trauma-informed safe space on campus that encourages community and facilitates a sense of belonging for current housing insecure students. Through the program, the following services to eligible ÃÈ·µ¼º½ CREDIT students:
- Priority registration
- Referrals to academic advisement/counseling
- Ocean campus meal cards (Fall & Spring)
- Clipper Cards- availability is limited (Fall & Spring)
- On-campus shower access
- Clothing closet
- Scholarship and financial aid referrals
- Limited hygiene supplies
- Orientation to student support services
- Referrals to local homeless service providers
- Access point to the ÃÈ·µ¼º½ Food Shelf program
- Limited basic school supplies
Our Mission
The Homeless At-Risk Transitional Students (HARTS) Program provides student-centered support services that minimize academic barriers and increase access for students who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing housing insecurity. We aim to develop meaningful relationships with HARTS students and within those relationships, empower HARTS students in reaching their full potential to realize their educational goals. We offer students a safe space to cultivate a support network and develop self-efficacy. Our goal is to meet students where they are and offer services that create fewer opportunity gaps which directly impact student retention and build agency for greater success in academic attainment.
