Dear College Community,
I am pleased to share with you the very good news that the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) took action during its annual January meeting to accept the College’s Midterm Report. This action was based upon determining that the College’s progress is appropriate with respect to implementing our plans and improving outcomes related to student achievement. I commend the entire College community for this accomplishment!
I want to note that we continue to be on enhanced monitoring, which was triggered by our annual fiscal report and audit findings covering FY 2018-19 and is based upon fiscal health metrics. Enhanced monitoring is not a sanction and is separate from our Midterm Report. This status will be lifted when our annual report and audit findings demonstrate that we meet the requisite fiscal metrics. Our next annual fiscal report will be due in April 2021 and will cover FY 2019-20.
As you may have heard, I made a few remarks at the January 15 ACCJC meeting regarding our progress with respect to restoring our fiscal health and stability. If we stay on course with our Multi-Year Budget and Enrollment Strategic Plan, I have great confidence that we will succeed in lifting our enhanced monitoring status.
Yours sincerely,
Rajen Vurdien, Ph.D.
Interim Chancellor
