Proposition A Bond Project Ready for Takeoff!
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – City College of San Francisco’s (ÃÈ·µ¼º½) Governing Board of Trustees are proud to announce that the California Division of the State Architect (DSA) final approvals have been received for the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Building! Over the last year, ÃÈ·µ¼º½ has been working productively with DSA on the project plans for this critical and transformative 2020 Proposition A bond project.
The California Division of the State Architect provides design and construction oversight for schools and other state facilities to ensure that they comply with all structural, accessibility, and fire and life safety codes. Receiving DSA’s final approval indicates that ÃÈ·µ¼º½â€™s final STEAM Building project plans have met and exceeded state requirements for constructing educational facilities. With the receipt of the final DSA approvals, ÃÈ·µ¼º½ is now able to break ground in the coming weeks!
The STEAM Building creates a multi-disciplinary heart of the campus, with spaces designed to support the entire college community. The design incorporates flexible social and study space to encourage interdisciplinary interaction, including an accessible maker space; state-of-the-art science labs for biology, chemistry, and physics; engineering labs for biotechnology, material science, and circuitry; and computer science labs for networking.
Now that final DSA approvals have been received, ÃÈ·µ¼º½ looks forward to scheduling groundbreaking events soon as well as starting preparations for significant campus construction commencing this winter. The college’s Public Information Office will release additional details regarding these exciting events in the upcoming weeks.
