Dear College Community,
I hope you each had a good weekend. Today women from all over the world come together in celebration of International Women’s Day and a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year’s theme is “Choose to Challenge,” which should inspire all of us to challenge biases, question stereotypes and celebrate the achievements of women around the world!
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Grant is ongoing in its distribution. As of last week, 4,381 students who completed the FAFSA and demonstrated financial need have received the HEERF grant. We are working on a process for students who have not completed a FAFSA, but are meeting satisfactory academic progress (SAP) to also receive a disbursement. On this note, on March 12 do not miss the “Financial Aid Student Forum” to find out how we can improve our processes and to get financial aid updates. .
Development of the Summer 2021 schedule of classes has now completed, and the schedule is available online. The Summer 2021 schedule includes 236 credit classes with room for close to 9,000 enrollments, and 138 noncredit classes with room for about 3,500 enrollments. Registration for Summer 2021 begins in early April, and most classes start either June 7 or June 14. As with Spring 2021, the College is currently planning on offering most Summer 2021 classes remotely, based on current and expected public health restrictions.
The annual San Francisco Adult Education Consortium public meeting will be held virtually on April 20, 2021 at 3:30pm. All are welcome! The AEP team has been working on revitalizing the Consortium website to create a more inviting public outreach tool with links to programs and services for adults interested in pursuing their educational and career goals. The updated website should be live before the public meeting.
Finally, the Student Health clinic now has additional in-person Nurse Practitioners available, expanding the number of in-person appointments available. We strongly encourage students to connect through our .
