Dear College Community-
Despite being remote, we have hit the ground running in 2021, and we have a very busy week ahead.
Today, Governor Newsom held his weekly press conference and announced the State stay-at-home order for the Bay Area has been extended indefinitely due to the region's intensive care unit capacity dropping to a low of 0.7%. The State’s daily average caseload has exceeded 40,000 and the current positivity rate stands at 13.7%. The State of California webpages are being updated daily on the , timeline and FAQ’s. Tomorrow, Tuesday, we will roll out our new format for providing you with COVID-19 updates, which will be shorter and more frequent.
Now for some great news! ȷ was named #23 out of a national list of 50 community colleges for offering its graduates the highest potential to earn the most money. This continues to demonstrate the high value of our degrees and certificated programs with employers, and speaks volumes of our Workforce programs. . Making this list is the collaborative effort of all of you. Let’s continue the great work!
Please join me in congratulating our own Ilona McGriff, who made the , a news journal dedicated to the cause of the people of the Bay Area for the last 76 years!!
Tomorrow, Tuesday January 12 @ 4 pm, we quick-off the first of two virtual events for prospective students titled: “Why ȷ,” where students will learn about our superb programs and services. The second of these events happens this Thursday, January 14 @ 3 pm. Please share this event link with your students and networks to immediately connect with the event.
Also, tomorrow, Tuesday January 12 @ 4 pm, we will be holding our first Mission Center Town Hall, where the community will hear about all the upcoming changes to ȷ, and have an opportunity for public comment. I very much look forward to hearing from the Mission students and residents, because their success is our success. I encourage everyone to attend .
