Dear 萌翻导航 Community,
Thank you to everyone who joined me at last week鈥檚 Chancellor鈥檚 Open Forum. I appreciated the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussion and answer your questions. In fact, as a result of the discussion, we have added a section of Latin American & Latino/a Studies LALS 5 as a Fall 2020 late start course offering. For those of you who weren鈥檛 able to attend, you can view a recording of the event here. You can also view the video from last week鈥檚 monthly 萌翻导航 Board of Trustees meeting .
I鈥檇 like to take a moment to highlight our Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI), a program that empowers students from all backgrounds with the opportunity to engage in disruptive thinking and pursue a career in entrepreneurship. For those of you who aren鈥檛 familiar with the program, the CEI 鈥渋s a College-wide incubator of disruptive ideas that students bring to life, from concept development to market testing, all the way to impact.鈥
I鈥檓 happy to say that some graduates of the program have already launched successful companies! Recent graduate Kevin Posadas worked through the program to develop and launch the green recycling company GreenWayv, which is already serving homes and restaurants throughout San Francisco. The Center has launched six new certificate programs in fields such as culinary arts, visual media design, and journalism under the leadership of John Halpin, Dean of Workforce Development, and Vivian Faustino-Pulliam, CEI Program Lead. You can learn more about the program 鈥 and these new certificates 鈥 here.
I鈥檇 also like to congratulate our Outreach team, who brought even more SFUSD students to the College this Fall than last year. This is a tremendous accomplishment, and I want to thank you for going above and beyond to make such a successful recruitment push this summer.
And finally, I want to thank each and every one of you for continuing to remain focused on our mission. Given all that is going on today, many students are facing ever-increasing challenges and require more personalized resources in order to thrive. I am filled with gratitude at your dedication and perseverance that allows us to meet this need 鈥 thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Rajen Vurdien, Ph.D
