Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are living in unprecedented times. The events today in Washington DC, while unbelievable, are indicative of a narrative of hate and insurrection that goes against our democratic values. Never in the history of this country has an election been questioned, or disagreements moved to actions of violence to overturn an election. This is not what democracy is, and this is not who we are.
In times like these we must be reminded of our true Democratic values for decency and dialogue, while adhering to the laws our Constitution clearly spells out for the transition of power. We must be reminded that no acts of violence shall be tolerated. The will of the people must be respected and the process of a smooth transition, written 243 years ago, shall prevail.
At ÃÈ·µ¼º½ we will continue creating educational environments that are void of violence, welcome diversity and promote safety for the underprivileged. We will continue our educational processes, despite local and national challenges. We will continue moving each of you forward to reach your goals, aspirations and dreams.
Yours sincerely,
Rajen Vurdien, Ph.D.
Interim Chancellor
