March 16, 2021
Dear City College Colleagues,
I am writing on behalf of the Board of Trustees to update you on our Chancellor Search process. As you may know, the application period closed at midnight on Friday, March 12. Last night, the Board met in Closed Session and concluded that it will be in the best interest of the District to suspend the search at this time and reopen it July 1. This will allow us time to work through the critical decisions we must make to balance our 2021-2022 Budget to maintain our accreditation and safeguard the future of City College.
This new timeline also will allow us to recruit more candidates with the executive level experience and desired qualifications described in our position announcement. We will finalize a new Search Process timeline with the goal of having a new chancellor in place October 1, 2021. Meanwhile, we extend continued thanks to Interim Chancellor Vurdien for leading us through these challenging times. The search consultants met with the Screening Committee earlier today to apprise them of our decision, thank them for their time, and ask them for their continued service once the search process resumes.
Thank you for serving our students and community during these difficult times.
Sincerely yours,
Shanell Williams
President, Board of Trustees
City College of San Francisco
