Catalog Description

A critical study of wildland fire line safety, fire behavior, fire prevention, fire extinguishment methods, strategy and tactics, Incident Command System, communications, use of fire apparatus, aircraft, bulldozers, hand crews, and analysis of wildland fire incidents. Required for F SC 111, the Firefighter Academy.

Section Notes

This class requires in-person meetings and the use of Canvas. There will be three face-to-face meetings to provide an orientation to the Fire Training Tower as well as wildland firefighting equipment. In-person meeting information (meeting days, times, location) is in the class schedule. Additional information about in-person meetings will be shown in the class syllabus and discussed with students. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet enabled device. This class is part of and is 16 weeks.
