Multilingual students are introduced to the field of healthcare interpreting (HCI) and the California HCI Standards, exploring the roles and scope of practice of healthcare interpreters. Completion of this course, along with proof of language proficiency in English and in a language of service, is required for possible admission to the HCI Certificate of Achievement program.
This class requires live online meetings and the use of Canvas with no required in-person meetings. Live online meetings that take place on Friday 10/25 and 11/1 from 4:10pm – 8:00pm. All students must pass a language proficiency assessment in English and their language of service as part of the course requirement to pass this course. The language assessment will be scheduled after the two sessions of class, 1.5 hours to be arranged by instructor. Live online meetings require the use of CityZoom, Zoom’s web conferencing platform in Canvas, using an internet enabled device.
